Common Questions

Do I need to provide my own dog, or can you help me find one?

Both options are available! Many clients come to us with a dog they'd like to train. We also offer breed and temperament consulting to help you find the perfect candidate if you don't have a dog yet. Not every dog is suited for every type of service work, so our initial assessment is crucial.

How much do your programs cost?

Program costs vary based on the type of training, duration, and your dog's individual needs. We offer flexible payment plans and can discuss financing options during your free consultation. We believe cost should never be a barrier to life-changing service dog access.

Is my dog too old (or too young) for training?

We typically begin service dog training with dogs between 6 months and 3 years old, though basic obedience can start as early as 8 weeks. Older dogs can sometimes be trained for emotional support or lighter service tasks β€” we evaluate each dog individually.

What breeds do you work with?

While certain breeds are more commonly associated with service work (Labrador Retrievers, Golden Retrievers, Standard Poodles), we evaluate dogs individually based on temperament, health, and aptitude. We've successfully certified many breeds and mixed breeds.

Will my service dog be legally recognized in Canada?

Yes. Service dogs in Canada are protected under provincial accessibility legislation. Upon completing our program, your team will receive official certification documentation. We also educate handlers on their legal rights and how to navigate public access with confidence.

Do I need to attend every training session?

Yes β€” and that's by design! All of our training is done with you and your dog together as a team. You're not dropping your dog off; you're learning right alongside them. This hands-on approach is what builds the trust and communication that makes a truly reliable service dog partnership.

What happens if my dog doesn't pass certification?

It's rare, but it happens. If a dog doesn't meet certification standards, we work with you on alternative paths β€” whether that's additional training time, transitioning to a different program better suited to your dog, or helping you find a new candidate. You're never left without options.
