Each program follows a structured, multi-stage curriculum designed to build skills progressively. All programs include handler education, public access training, and ongoing support.
Prepare your companion to provide comfort and emotional stability in daily life and during challenging moments.
Train your dog to detect dangerous blood sugar fluctuations and alert you or a caregiver before a medical emergency occurs.
Equip your dog with the ability to sense oncoming seizures and perform critical response tasks to keep you safe.
Build a solid foundation of commands, manners, and social skills that every well-behaved dog needs.
Train your dog to perform grounding tasks, create physical barriers, and interrupt anxiety episodes for veterans and trauma survivors.
Prepare your dog to assist with balance support, retrieving items, opening doors, and other physical assistance tasks.
Train a calm, steady companion to provide sensory regulation, tethering safety, and social bridging for individuals on the spectrum.
Train your dog to alert you to critical sounds β doorbells, alarms, phones, your name being called, and approaching vehicles.
Teach your dog to detect specific allergens β such as peanuts, gluten, or tree nuts β before you're exposed, providing a critical safety layer.
From your first consultation to certification day, here's what your journey looks like with Task Trained Dogs.
We discuss your needs, assess your dog's suitability, and recommend the right program. If you don't have a dog yet, we can help you select one.
Your dog undergoes a full temperament and health assessment. We develop a personalized training plan tailored to your specific goals and timeline.
You and your dog progress through each stage together with our expert trainers. Every session is hands-on β you'll learn the techniques alongside your dog so you build a strong, confident partnership from day one.
Once core skills are solid, we move into real-world environments together. You and your dog practise in public settings, building reliability, confidence, and seamless communication under our guidance.
Upon passing all evaluations, your team receives official certification. We provide lifetime follow-up support, refresher sessions, and a community of fellow handlers.

Both options are available! Many clients come to us with a dog they'd like to train. We also offer breed and temperament consulting to help you find the perfect candidate if you don't have a dog yet. Not every dog is suited for every type of service work, so our initial assessment is crucial.
Program costs vary based on the type of training, duration, and your dog's individual needs. We offer flexible payment plans and can discuss financing options during your free consultation. We believe cost should never be a barrier to life-changing service dog access.
We typically begin service dog training with dogs between 6 months and 3 years old, though basic obedience can start as early as 8 weeks. Older dogs can sometimes be trained for emotional support or lighter service tasks β we evaluate each dog individually.
While certain breeds are more commonly associated with service work (Labrador Retrievers, Golden Retrievers, Standard Poodles), we evaluate dogs individually based on temperament, health, and aptitude. We've successfully certified many breeds and mixed breeds.
Yes. Service dogs in Canada are protected under provincial accessibility legislation. Upon completing our program, your team will receive official certification documentation. We also educate handlers on their legal rights and how to navigate public access with confidence.
Yes β and that's by design! All of our training is done with you and your dog together as a team. You're not dropping your dog off; you're learning right alongside them. This hands-on approach is what builds the trust and communication that makes a truly reliable service dog partnership.
It's rare, but it happens. If a dog doesn't meet certification standards, we work with you on alternative paths β whether that's additional training time, transitioning to a different program better suited to your dog, or helping you find a new candidate. You're never left without options.
Ready to take the first step? Book a free consultation with our team. We'll discuss your needs, answer your questions, and outline the best path forward for you and your dog.
